This past July, Captain America: The First Avenger was released in movies. (Ironic how it's released in July. July 4th...) It was an unbelievably stupendous movie! Chris Evans who played Captain America did a phenomenal job! The movie gives a sharp detail of the story and legacy of Captain America and how it all began with young Steve Rogers volunteering to be a "human guinea pig" for the U.S. Military.
If you have ever read the Captain America comics, you practically know the whole story of Captain America because it has been a story that has been passed down for countless generations. As a matter of fact, I have one of the original Captain America Comics! The Hero That Was! is one of the first comics and it tells the Story of the Captain as well as his sidekick "Bucky" Barnes. It tells the story of how Captain America is born (not literally), how Bucky teams up with the Captain and how they stop the Nazi guards. It's not a full story because it's a comic and I have never had the chance to read other editions.
I thought, why not let you read a bit of this magnificent work so I got a page of it offline and brought it to my blog for you to read. Lucky for you I got the best part of the comic! When Steve Rogers turns into Captain America with the help of Dr. Erksine and Project Rebirth.

Isn't that just amazing literature? This is how writing started. Short yet sweet comic strips used to grab the attention of society and bring them into the imaginary world of super hero's.
Here's a movie summary for you provided by imbd.com
It is 1942, America has entered World War II, and sickly but determined Steve Rogers is frustrated at being rejected yet again for military service. Everything changes when Dr. Erksine recruits him for the secret Project Rebirth. Proving his extraordinary courage, wits and conscience, Rogers undergoes the experiment and his weak body is suddenly enhanced into the maximum human potential. When Dr. Erksine is then immediately assassinated by an agent of Nazi Germany's head of its secret HYDRA research department, Johann Schmidt aka the Red Skull, Rogers is left as a unique man who is initially misused as a propaganda mascot. However, when his comrades need him, Rogers goes on a successful adventure that truly makes him Captain America and his war against Schmidt begins.

I've never read it, but have seen the movie. My husband is a comic book lover so he has read them and explained the background before I watched it. I thought it was neat that Tony Stark's dad was in it.
ReplyDeleteThe movie is amazing! It's pretty cool about Tony's dad :)
DeleteCap'n is one of my least favourite Marvel heroes (likely because I'm a Brit) but I really enjoyed the First Avenger movie. Hopefully I'll grab it on DVD to watch again before the Avengers is released :)

The First Avenger was good, no doubt. I have to watch Thor before the Avengers is released :P
DeleteTotally love the direction your theme is heading... I didn't read the comic books, loved the film. Favo part is when he brings back the soldiers as they pan to a long shot...
ReplyDeleteCan you bring it... to the challenge "C" is for Classy!
