A-Z Challenge: Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief

Rick Riordan's series, Percy Jackson is what got me all started in writing. Mythology is my style. Aside from being my inspiration, he has inspired many others with his writing and has even got his novel The Lightning Thief turned into a movie!!! Yea it didn't get the best ratings but it's still an amazing movie that I always love watching :)

When his lightning bolt is stolen, Zeus accuses Poseidon's son, Percy Jackson, and gives Poseidon's son fourteen days to return it, otherwise he will initiate a war amongst the gods. Meanwhile the teenager, Percy, who is dyslexic and has ADHD is visiting The Museum of Metropolitan of Art and is attacked by a Fury disguised in his teacher. His crippled best friend Grover reveals that Percy is a demigod and that he is his protector and his teacher Mr Brunner gives him a pen telling him that it is a powerful weapon. They go to Percy's house and together with his mother Sally they drive to the Camp Half-Blood. However Sally is attacked by a Minotaur and vanishes before Percy can help her. In the camp, Percy befriends the gorgeous Annabeth; when they are attacked by Hades who wants the lighting bolt for himself, Percy discovers that his mother is in the Underworld with Hades. Percy decides to travel on a dangerous quest to retrieve the lightning bolt and save his mother...

Overall, amazing movie that if you haven't seen, you must watch! :)

A-Z Question:
Who is your favorite Greek God? Who's your favorite Percy Jackson Character? Did you like the movie? Have you read the books?

  1. I really, really wish the books had been better. they're readable, but they're not the best they could've been. The movie was more lively (more lively than some critics were willing to admit), so it's a good thing that another one's being made, though I'm not sure popular enough to guarantee that the whole series will be filmed.

I'm glad that Riordan got some people who would otherwise not have been interested in the subject to read about Greek mythology, because anything that inspires something good is inherently good (it may be best not to think too much about that statement at this time).

The thing I will definitely credit Percy Jackson with is my obsession with at least joking about eating and/or drinking only blue things. It's a challenge to actually accomplish!

  4. So many kids love this series! I've heard RR speak, and he's great. As for MY fave gods? I like the tortured ones, like Hercules. I think I like Prometheus the best because he had the nerve to steal fire from Zeus! And he had a real soft spot for humans. I write YA fiction, and I'm over from A to Z so pop on by if you like. 5. My favorite Greek Goddess has to be Persephone. There is something about her myth that resonates with young women everywhere. Unfortunately.
As far as the movie and books are concerned, I never even heard of them, sad to say.
